Jorge A. Briones, Jr., recently passed his LEED AP BD+C exam and is now a LEED AP BD+C. (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Accredited Professional with specialty in Building Design + Construction).

IPG has a mandatory LEED accreditation program for all employees and will do its part to actively participate in improving the environment. The recent addition of Keith M. Snyder, RA is a step in that direction allowing IPG to take a lead role in addressing the blight in the urban areas of our major cities that have been decimated by the economy. It is the intent of IPG to conduct a study in the city of Flint, MI where the city unemployment rate is currently at 26% and the state of Michigan again recorded the highest unemployment rate among the states, 14.6% in December.

The study will show how to address the blight in urban neighborhoods in a sustainable manner by deconstructing a home. After a complete removal of the entire infrastructure the house will be cut into pieces for transport via rail or truck to a facility that will process the material for reuse or recycling. The site can become any number of things, such as an urban farm or Greenfield. It can also become an affordable housing development further increasing the creation of jobs to stimulate the regional economy and address the blight in depressed areas.
